DeWalt laser is an essential piece of equipment. It can come handy when you are installing tiles or hardwood floors, or when you are building a shack in the garden. This piece of equipment will say if a plane is ideally aligned. Some cheap models (such as Stanley 77-153 CL2 FatMax Cross Line Laser) are good but they can not match difficult applications. Luckily, DeWalt has developed and designed a unit that is a must have piece of equipment for serious craftsmen, tile installers, and DIY enthusiasts.

This tool uses a bright red beam of light to let the craftsmen know when something is precisely aligned. Best units can project laser lines at specific angles relative to the level plane which makes them the perfect piece of equipment for short-distance surveying. You can find self-leveling and rotating units on the market. The standard unit (such as DEWALT DW7187 Heavy Duty Adjustable Miter Saw Laser System) can project a narrow horizontal laser beam and there are some models on the market able to project vertical laser beams as well.

Rotating DeWalt laser models are superb for lining up installing dropped ceilings electrical outlets. This unit can rotate 360° and can mark level on nearby walls. And a model with a magnetic base is ideal when you need to attach the laser to metal surfaces. If you decide that you want to use it only for some basic applications you will be pleased to know that cheaper modes are only around $100. If you want to buy the best one you will have to pay up to several hundreds of dollars. But it is money well spent. Consider it a good investment. These laser levels project better beams than the cheaper models. Also, expensive models (such as DEWALT DW073K Heavy Duty 18-Volt Cordless Rotary Laser Kit) can easily handle bumps on the wall and can project a visible red beam over uneven wet tile-glue. And if you ask the professionals they will say to you that the best ones are the self-leveling laser levels. But if you are not serious about home improvement project you should stick to cheap models. And it is also good to know that a great majority of units is precise up to 0.25’’ at 100’.
